Low Frequency (520 Hz) Fire Alarm Sounder Technology

Presented by: David Lowrey, Chief Fire Marshal, City of Boulder Fire Rescue.

Dave is a principal committee member of the NFPA 72 Technical Committee on Notification Appliances for Fire Alarm Signaling Systems.

Dave will provide an update on the low frequency (520 Hz) sounder technology including requirement origins, effective code dates, conflicts between Chapter 18 and Chapter 29 and what is being done to resolve this.

Dave will also discuss LED strobe and working differences between xenon tubes and the pulse duration
