Presentation: Smoke Control Systems & Challenges with New Codes
This presentation will cover Smoke Control System history, concepts (both active & passive type), design, installation, commissioning and most important, the annual testing and maintenance of the systems. We will also cover how these concepts change with the “I” codes and how different jurisdictions are accepting or amending the “I” codes, including the newest Denver amendments. Since most of the Smoke Control Systems are existing, it is important to understand how tenant improvements and BAS/FAS retrofits may affect these systems and what safeguards can be implemented to assure occupant safety. Of special interest will be the newest Denver amendments (2019) and the challenges therein.
